Maybe (Tales of the Abyss; Van/Luke)

Something I wrote a while ago and fixed up a bit, though still sort of rough.

About time I post something here, eh?

Title: Maybe
Word Count: 650
Characters/Pairings: Van/Luke
Warnings: Van, emotional manipulation

Maybe Luke knew all along. Not consciously, no, but intuitively, deep in the recesses of his brain. Maybe he knew it really was too good to be true, that it was all a façade.

Maybe maybe, maybe not.

Van’s fingers slide down his stomach, calloused and rough but oh so nice. Luke squirms and hisses under the ministrations, cheeks flushing as he grows hard.

“You like this?” Van’s grin is too painful to look at. “Foolish replica, you’re still so weak.”

“Sh-shut up!” Luke hisses, hiding his head in the crook of Van’s neck. “J-just do it!”

A dark chuckle escapes Van’s lips, his hand sliding further down to undo Luke’s belt buckle as he cradles him close. He pulls Luke from his lap and lays him over the desk, pressing Luke’s back into it. “So demanding…”

Perhaps he should have thought it was odd for Van to love him, to cherish some pathetic child over all others.

But he was young and spoiled and didn’t. He didn’t question Van’s motives, his soft kisses and softer touches, his eagerness to wrap Luke around his finger. Maybe, if he was a little older, a little smarter, a little more used to the world, he would have truly realised.

Maybe maybe, maybe not.

Gasping, Luke involuntarily bucks against Van’s spit-slick fingers as they push against him, prodding at his hole for a few moments before forcing themselves in. Luke whimpers and whines and squirms some more, an uncomfortable heat building in his stomach. “O-oh…”

“I see you’re still exactly the same.” Van doesn’t yet move his fingers. “Still so eager…”

Please.” Every time Luke pushes against Van’s fingers, they draw back. “Don’t, don’t tease me!”

Van roars with laughter and he obliges Luke, thrusting his fingers in and out. Luke howls and wriggles and nearly cries, whole body quivering as Van strokes his sweet spot. A barrage of moans slide past his lips, body automatically moving in time with Van’s fingers.

“It’s been a while, hasn’t it?”

The more Van mocks him, the more he wants it.

“You’ve always been so sensitive…”

Writhing and groaning, the desk below him shakes under his movements, Van’s fingers touching him in all the right spots, a little rough and just what he needs.

Close,” is all he can manage to get out, face and chest tightening as he nears orgasm.

All it takes is one quick stroke of his length before he comes with a shout, whole body shaking. He collapses back on to the desk, breathing shallow and almost painful. He pulls Van close, burying his head in the crook of his neck once more.

“Let me go.” Van’s voice is calm, even. “I don’t have time for this.”

“No.” He’s twelve all over again. “No.”

A low growl escapes Van’s throat. “Replica.”

“I love you!” he howls softly, sniffling. “Don’t go.”

“…Foolish replica.” Van forcefully pulls himself out of Luke’s grasp, scowling down at him. “You are weaker than I ever could have imagined.”

“I don’t care!” He hides his eyes behind an arm. “I hate you. I love you.”

In a moment Van is pinning him down, lips pressed against his. A forceful tenderness is there that surprises Luke, scares him, and all he can do is whimper pathetically as Van pulls back.

“…Get off my desk.” Van turns, stepping away. “Next time you’re in Belkend, I’ll have you kicked out as soon as you set foot into my office.”

Luke sits up, still shaky, and just looks at him, watches him. “Master Van…”

Van ignores the low whimper and walks briskly out of the room, slamming the door behind him. As Luke redresses, he thinks; maybe Van loves me too. Maybe, maybe, he doesn’t want to do this! Maybe—

Maybe maybe, maybe not.

Maybe not.
